GreenFront Advises Largest U.S. Steel Manufacturer in Inaugural Solar Power Purchase Agreement
Nucor Corporation, North America’s largest and most diversified steel and steel products company, today announced the signing of a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with EDF Renewables North America (EDFR) for 250 MW of new solar energy in Texas. The agreement, which will enable EDFR to add more clean energy to the region’s power grid, is Nucor’s first VPPA and the largest of its kind for the steel industry.
Nucor engaged GreenFront Energy Partners (GreenFront) to advise on its renewable energy procurement strategy and to run a formal process for soliciting proposals from major renewable energy developers across the country. GreenFront’s high-touch structured process enabled Nucor to thoroughly evaluate a wide variety of offers from across it’s operating footprint and ultimately select a project with the maximum impact and greatest margin of safety for the company.
GreenFront differentiates itself through a wide-ranging suite of analytical processes that help an off-taker understand the full financial picture of a contract. Using these tools to levelize multiple proposals across different power markets and resources allows senior management to rest assured that they have considered every angle of a transaction.
