Ameresco’s 50-MW/200-MWh BESS is Designed to Enhance Resiliency and Energy Security

October 21, 2025

GreenFront is proud to announce the closing of an on-site solar and storage agreement between our client, Nucor Corporation and Ameresco Inc. The 50-MW/200-MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) entered commercial operations earlier this month and the 25-MW solar facility is expected to enter operations in 2026. After a competitive procurement process, Ameresco was selected to develop, construct, and own the facilities under 20-year agreements.

The Kingman BESS is the largest behind-the-meter (BTM) project in Arizona and ranks as the fourth largest BTM installation in the United States. The asset will help stabilize the electric load from Nucor’s new arc furnace, reducing strain on the grid, and boosting the use of renewable energy. This agreement exemplifies how GreenFront works on behalf of our corporate clients to source and negotiate innovative solutions, executing on various clean energy strategies.

GreenFront Energy Partners advised Nucor on the contracting and structuring of solar and storage solutions at Kingman.
